We are pleased to announce that New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) third-grade teachers Ms. Amare McPherson and Ms. Stacey-Ann Palma were awarded the Fund for Teachers 2022 Grant. They are the first NBFA teachers to receive this prestigious award.
Fund for Teachers awards teachers across the country with a fellowship grant. The fund strengthens instruction by investing in outstanding teachers' self-determined professional growth and development in order to support student success, enrich their own practice, and strengthen their schools and communities.
“We are thrilled that Ms. McPherson and Ms. Palma were selected for such an exciting learning opportunity,” said NBFA Director Ronelle Swagerty. “We look forward to them sharing best practices with colleagues and wonderful photos of Italy with adults and children in the fall.”
Fund for Teachers 2022 Grant awards teachers who designed personal learning opportunities that stretch their students and strengthen public, private, and charter school communities.
This summer, Ms. McPherson and Ms. Palma will document best practices associated with the Reggio Emilia experienced-based pedagogy founded in Italy to implement its progressive, student-led and focused learning experiences at NBFA.
Funding for teachers in Connecticut is provided largely by Dalio Philanthropies.
