New Beginnings Family Academy is participating in a Free Breakfast and Lunch program for the current school year 2019-2020. This alternative is referred to as the Community Eligibility Provision. All students enrolled at the following school(s) may participate in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program at no charge. Household applications are not required to receive free meals, but applications may be distributed by the school to collect household income data for other programs that require this information.

BRIDGEPORT, CT (August 5, 2020) - New Beginnings Family Academy is excited to welcome Roree M. Warnke back as Chief Development and Communications Officer. Warnke brings over 20 years of development experience, most recently with PBS (Vermont). Prior to that she had worked in Connecticut for NBFA and the National Audubon Society. She also brings experience from the Pesticide Action Network (California), The Redress Trust (London), and Amnesty International USA (New York).

BRIDGEPORT, CT (April 18, 2018) - In a first for a Bridgeport public charter school, four middle school students from New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) delivered top performances at the Fairfield County Regional Contest for the 2018 Connecticut History Day competition and will advance to the state finals on April 28th. NBFA employs a progressive education model and is the state's only progressive public charter school with emotionally responsive practice. In all, twelve NBFA seventh and eighth graders faced peers from schools across Fairfield County in the Regional Contest, held at Sacred Heart University on March 17th, and presented research projects on the National History Day program theme, “Conflict and Compromise in History.”

BRIDGEPORT, CT (May 4, 2018) – New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) today celebrated the opening of its educational garden. Second graders brought the classroom outside, planting peas, lettuces, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers as part of NBFA’s commitment to teaching students the science of healthy living. Students enjoyed the chance to sample some of the foods they are growing, including a seasonal salad to share, thanks to a tasting-table set up by Whole Foods Market® in Fairfield, CT.

BRIDGEPORT, CT (APRIL 6, 2018) – New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) has been awarded a first-time grant to develop their educational garden through Whole Kids Foundation’s School Garden Grant Program, which was created in partnership with FoodCorps to help schools grow students’ relationships with food through gardening. The grant to NBFA represents a significant expansion of the Bridgeport charter school’s existing partnership with Whole Foods Market® in Fairfield, CT.

BRIDGEPORT, CT (July 10, 2018) – New Beginnings Family Academy, a public charter school in Bridgeport, CT, has announced the election of Donald Foley, an accomplished finance executive, as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Foley’s three-year term begins July 1st, 2018.
